Cucumis sativus
Vining Cucumbers: Grow on vigorous vines shaded by large leaves and grow best when trained up a trellis or fence. Bush Cucumbers: Container friendly, make successive planting every two weeks. 
Require fertile soil. Before planting, add about 2 inches of compost to the bed and work it into a depth of 6 to 8 inches. Soil should be moist but well-draining (not soggy)
The plants do not tolerate frost. Since they are a quick-growing crop, they must be well supplied with moisture and plant nutrients throughout the growing season. 
Water: Consistently especially during the fruiting stage, and high heat. Water slow in the morning, avoid wetting leaves to prevent powdery mildew.
Indoors Sow: 3 weeks before you plan to transplant them outside into the ground. Provide bottom heat of about 70ºF with a heating pad or place the seed flats on top of a refrigerator or water heater. 
Outdoor Sow: 2 weeks after the last frost date. In cooler climates, warm the soil by covering it with black plastic before planting.
Heavy Mulch: To avoid pests and retain moisture - 1” compost, straw, dried leaves, or shredded newspaper
Fertilize 5-10-10 liquid: - 1 week after flowers bloom, continue every 3 weeks thereafter.
